The Force were looking to keep their finals hopes alive against the visiting Hurricanes.

The Western Force have received a major boost with props Angus Wagner and Bo Abra signing two-year extensions.

Both players joined the club from the Brumbies, with Wagner linking during their time in Global Rapid Rugby.

The 24-year-old bounced back from a pre-season injury to play four of the last five games of the Super Rugby Pacific, eager to build off that into 2023.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity and for the Force to back me for a further two seasons,” Wagner explained.

“I feel we’re building nicely as a club. As a team, we want to be putting together consistently strong performances. There’s no doubt we’re aiming for finals each year.”

Meanwhile, Abra joined the club in 2021 after struggling to break the Brumbies' system, eventually handed his Super Rugby debut in round five.

The former Junior Wallaby played nine Super Rugby matches in 2022 and was delighted to lock down his future.

“It’s a great feeling to be continuing my time with the Force. Perth is certainly my home away from home now.” Abra believes.

“I’m really proud to wear the Western Force jersey and represent WA. It’s been surreal to make my debut and then hold my spot this season, I’ve really enjoyed it.”

General Manager of Rugby Matt Hodgson was pleased to re-sign the duo as they look to build their front row depth following the retirement of Greg Holmes.

"Angus and Bo have adapted well to the demands of Super Rugby, and they’ve been progressing well,” Hodgson said.

“Having gained more valuable experience this season, I’m sure they’ll build on this momentum and continue to prove important members of the squad in the years to come.”
