Zoe Waters...a comeback for GPS at the BrisVegas 7s after injury

The rebirth of the women's program at GPS Rugby Club will accelerate through the hot-shot outfit assembled for the Premier 7s series.

GPS will field one of the favoured teams at the BrisVegas 7s which will unfold at Wests Rugby Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Sophie Duff, Emmisyn Wynyard, Amy Lorenz, Matilda Richards and Madi Collins, who all featured for Queensland in the Next Gen 7s series, are suiting up for GPS this weekend.

Jeeps will also have two extra faces available with sevens pedigree. NSW Waratahs ace Amelia Whitaker, who played for Australia in Toowoomba last weekend, has been cleared to play restricted minutes.

Likewise, Zoe Waters has been cleared to play comeback minutes on Saturday after a diligent return from injury.

The depth doesn't stop there.

Dutch player Pleuni Kievitt has committed to play the three tournaments of the series as has French halfback Margaux Duces.

"Margaux got in touch through Facebook because she's going to spend a year in Australia," GPS team manager Ryan Webster said.

"She's played for France in the Six Nations so it's exciting that she committed to play 15s for the club as well."

GPS was a notable absentee from women's rugby during the Founders Cup this year but Webster is busy cranking up commitments to re-establish the team in 2026.

"We've already had a healthy uptake of around 20 players with interest. Having (former Wests coach) Manny Cole-Manolis in place to head the program has added credibility straight away," Webster said.

Tahlia O'Brien (St George Illawarra Dragons) and speedster Claudia Neilsen (Wests Tigers) are chiming in from NRLW.

There are 21 teams in all competing in Premier 7s across the BrisVegas 7s, Gold Coast 7s (November 1-2) and the State 7s (November 15-16) in men's (Stannard Shield) and women's (Caslick Cup).

Sevens trendsetters Bond University have their own arsenal  of women's players assembled.

Next Gen 7s players Kaelyn Passi, Tahli Devine, TJ Murray and Ava Wereta, Wallaroo Waiaria Ellis and a trio of NRLW players will be at the core of a top team.

Wests Tigers pair Emily Bass and Faythe Manera will be joined by Canterbury Bulldog Bridget Hoy.

Brothers Rocco and Woody Gollings will team up for Bond in the men's competition.

Former Reds halfback Moses Sorovi will again be a stalwart for Wests alongside finisher Ben Navosalagi.
