The Cape Town Sevens has seen the Aussie Women’s side roar back into life following their final loss in Dubai, with Madi Levi bagging four tries against the USA on their way to a rematch in the big dance with New Zealand.

The Tim Walsh-coached side has barely put a foot wrong across the two days so far, with commanding wins over France and Japan, while overcoming a determined Canada to top Pool B on day one.

Against the USA, however, the Women’s side produced one of their most clinical performances, with the Eagles dominating possession but struggling to capitalise due to by strong defence.

The Aussies were rewarded with a break from Heidi Dennis on their first touch of the ball, scoring the first points of the afternoon.

A near 80-metre effort from Madi Levi shortly afterwards saw the Aussies score again, and she would nab her second and Australia's third on halftime, thanks to a poor passage of discipline from the Americans and sublime footwork from Mackenzie Davis.

A brilliant intercept from Kaylen Thomas gave the USA a sniff at a comeback early in the second half; however, the Australian defence quickly retaliated.

Poor discipline saw Alex Sedrick sent to the bin, with Madi Levi grabbing her third shortly afterwards, putting the result beyond doubt.

A try to Bienne Terita and a fourth to Levi iced the result, with the Aussies now set for a Dubai rematch against New Zealand in the final.

After a disappointing opening day, the men put in their best performance of the tournament on day two, pushing New Zealand and rallying once again from a two-try deficit in their fifth-placed play-off.

The Kiwis scored three tries to one in the first half; however, an injection of fresh legs proved effective for the Aussie Men, with James McGregor and Josh Turner scoring tries to draw the scores level.

A great long-range effort from Sofai Notoa-Tipo saw the Kiwis regain the lead with 40 seconds to go, leaving Australia needing a try as the siren blared.

With Sam Clarke sent to the bin and the New Zealanders conceding multiple penalties in their own half, all signs pointed to the Aussie Men finding the equaliser, until Ben Dalton knocked the ball on with the try line beckoning.

The Aussie Men will now face Spain in the seventh-placed play-off.
