The ACT Brumbies are coming home — and they’re bringing serious heat with them.
On Saturday night, 28 February (7:35pm AEDT), the Brumbies return to GIO Stadium for their first home game of 2026, hosting the Blues with an unchanged line-up for the third straight week.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The men from the capital have burst out of the stables in 2026, piling on 106 points across their opening two games to gallop to the top of the Super Rugby ladder. Last week’s statement win over the Crusaders in Christchurch — our first there in 26 years — sent a clear message to the competition.
And if anyone needed reminding, cast your mind back to last year’s breakthrough win at Eden Park over the Blues. History made on their patch. Now the Brumbies are chasing an encore — on ours.
Saturday night also marks a celebration of 30 years of Brumbies Super Rugby, three decades on from the club’s first run in the inaugural 1996 competition. It’s a chance for fans past and present to honour the legacy — and help drive the next chapter.
Head Coach Stephen Larkham has backed continuity, naming the same matchday 23 that delivered in Christchurch.
Veteran prop James Slipper edges closer to the all-time Super Rugby appearance record of 203 caps, packing down with Billy Pollard and Rhys van Nek in a front row that has dominated the set piece and laid a physical platform from the first whistle.
Behind them, Lachie Shaw and Cadeyrn Neville continue to bring steel in the second row, while Rob Valetini, Rory Scott and Charlie Cale combine power, work rate and impact around the ruck.
Captain Ryan Lonergan steers the attack alongside flyhalf Declan Meredith, with David Feliuai’s physical edge in midfield creating space for breakout rookie Kadin Pritchard. Out wide, Ollie Sapsford, Corey Toole and Andy Muirhead have been lethal through two rounds.
The finishers are primed to make their mark when the contest is in the balance. Liam Bowron, Blake Schoupp, Tevita Alatini, Toby Macpherson and Luke Reimer inject size, energy and physicality into the tight exchanges. In the backs, Klayton Thorn, Tane Edmed and Hudson Creighton provide composure and spark, ensuring the Brumbies can lift the tempo, and close out strong when it matters most.
There’s belief in this group. There’s momentum. Now they need Canberra behind them.
This is your invitation, and Saturday night under lights at GIO is shaping as the place to be.
