Ireland might have come into the Rugby World Cup as the world no. 1 side but after just one weekend of matches, New Zealand is back on top.

The All Blacks' 23-13 win over the Springboks in Yokohama on Saturday propelled them back to the position where they have been for the better part of the last decade.

Aside from Ireland's shift down a spot, Wales moved up one position to fourth despite not playing a game so far this tournament, with the Springboks dropping a position, below the Welsh, to fifth.

France's last-gasp victory over Argentina moved them up to seventh overall, leapfrogging Scotland.

Japan's opening victory against Russia was enough for them to swap spots with Fiji, who lost to the Wallabies 39-21.

England and Australia were the only two teams in the top 10 to stay in their spots after the first weekend of games.

Both sides survived early scares to take ultimately regulation wins in their first pool matches.

Argentina sit just outside the top 10, in 11th, after their loss to France while Georgia, the USA and Italy are not far behind.
