A small surprise gesture for captain Christian Lealiifano might just be the moment that shows  fans everything they need to know about the Brumbies' sources of success this season.

While their forward pack has been monstrous  and their backline well in sync, it is the side's close bonds that have been discussed in almost every interview of 2019.

Lealiifano plays his 150th game against the Jaguares and Brumbies coach Dan McKellar, CEO Phil Thomson and head of high performance Chris Tindall made sure it was a special lead-up.

The trio arranged to fly Lealiifano's older brother Eddie to Argentina to present his 150th jersey, as a surprise for the milestone man.

it was an emotional presentation, according to attack coach Peter Hewat, on the eve of what will be at most Lealiifano's second-last outing for the club.

"It was a nice touch, a really nice touch," he said.

"We flew his brother Eddie over and he did the jersey presentation, which was a nice surprise for Christian and the lads.

"It was an emotional presentation."

While Hewat describes Lealiifano as the "heartbeat" of this team, there's a sense that a gesture like that is symbolic of the bonds that have been spoken about so often in Canberra this season - bonds that go beyond just that outward talk.

Hewat, who had a long rugby career of his own before turning to coaching, said the team was the closest he had been part of.

"People talk a lot about culture and that kind of thing but I  genuinely think this group is the tightest team I've ever seen," he said.

"The meetings they have, the time they spend together on and off the field, they're really close."

Hewat said there was an element in the ACT outfit that leant itself to a family-oriented environment but that had gone up a notch since McKellar came on board.

"I think even since the Brumbies started there's always been that kind of culture but since Dan came on, he's just made things really, really tight.

"We did a couple of special things earlier in the season and that's helped as well and Dan has really helped bring everyone together."

Lealiifano's form this season has been close to his best but he has also been able to bring others along with him as the Brumbies have worked their way to the final four.

As a backline, while they often go under the radar, but the form of their attack has been icing on the cake for the Brumbies in a seven-match winning run.

Inside centre Irae Simone has been one of those players who has stepped up this season, learning off Lealiifano and Wallabies veteran 13 Tevita Kuridrani.

"He's definitely come into his own this year and been really good alongside Christian and with Tevita as well."

There will be no easy moments for the Brumbies as they return to Buenos Aires for the second time this season, focused on ensuring every opportunity sticks.

The Jaguares inflicted their most recent defeat, before their record run of wins propelled the Brumbies into the semi-finals, and that match in Buenos Aires was a match littered with missed opportunities.

Their driving maul fell short on consecutive occasions that night while handling errors and ill-discipline cost them dearly as well.

Since then, they have become a team that leaves little to chance, something that showed in their big 38-13 quarter-final win over the Sharks last weekend.

Hewat said the confidence that the team had generated since them had ensured they were finishing those half-chances since.

"We left a lot of opportunities out there last time we played them and we were coming off a win over the Stormers in Cape Town the week before, so it was a tough travel leg," he said.

"I think (taking those chances) is down to confidence. The guys are feeling confident and I think that's a big part of it."

The Brumbies take on the Jaguares on Saturday June 29, kicking off at 9:05am AEST, LIVE on FOX SPORTS and Kayo.
