After 96 minutes of Top 14 rugby, reports out of France suggest Ben Barba is set to be sacked by Toulon.

French newspaper Le Monde reported earlier this week that Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal told Barba he would not be required next season and that news has surfaced in Australia tonight.

The 2016 NRL premiership player shocked the Australian sporting world when he announced the $2.5 million, two year deal with the French giants but he has not been able to make a successful transition in the short time he has been overseas.

With a 12-game NRL suspension still yet to be served Barba may decide to steer clear from a return to the 13-man game and there is some suggestion he wants to remain in France.

The Dally M medal winner hasn't played in five weeks and has struggled to crack Toulon's star studded lineup, despite their lack of success this year.
