Chloe Dalton is eager for the Sydney Sevens to begin.

Excitement is building for the Aussie Women’s Sevens team as they prepare to make their Sydney Sevens debut.

2017 will be the first time both the women’s and men’s tournament will coincide with each other on the same weekend.

As part of the lead up to the festival of Rugby in Sydney, Chloe Dalton and her teammates were joined by members of the Sixer’s Women’s Big Bash League squad at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

It’s not the first-time Dalton has teamed up with the Sixers, having managed the sidelines in their recent outing at the SCG against the Thunder.

“I was so nervous (during the match) because it went to the super over and then it was a tie and tie again and then went to a countback - I felt like I was part of it with them.” Said the 23-year-old.

“I was standing on the boundary watching and I was stressing, although they were all probably a lot more stressed than I was, but it was cool to be a part of it.

“Just to see another code and how it works and how they go about doing things.”

Moving on from ‘Sixer’s’ to ‘Seven’s’ Dalton said the chance for the Olympic Gold medallists to perform in front of a local crowd, like the BBL, was something that couldn’t come soon enough.

“I’m really excited to play in the tournament,” - Chloe Dalton
“I’ve got a lot of family and friends who are going to be in the crowd and that will give us the motivation to perform, especially after the loss to New Zealand in the Dubai competition last year,

“It’s massive for us to play alongside the men, I think it’s going to be a huge weekend for Australian Rugby and it’s great that the ARU have supported us by making it a World Series tournament.”

“I think the opportunity we have to promote women’s rugby is huge, if we can uphold to performing at a high standard we will be able to continue promoting all facets of the women’s game.
