Off-season long gone for Scott Sio, who's back on deck with the Brumbies for the 2017 season.

Scott Sio is determined to take on a leadership role at the ACT Brumbies this coming Super Rugby season after recently returning to Canberra following a gruelling international season.

Feeling refreshed and rested from his break, the Wallabies loose head incumbent is as enthusiastic as ever, having returned to a much ‘younger’ playing squad in the Australian Capital Territory.

“It’s good to be back in familiar settings here in Canberra, I’ve been spending a lot of time in Sydney with family and the Wallabies, there has been a lot of enthusiasm with the younger faces here and that has given me a big boost coming in,” Sio said.
Almost overnight, Sio has now become a leader amongst the Brumbies roster, now heading into his sixth Super season. The 30 Test capped Sio is hoping that his experience can filter down to some of the younger players at the Club.

“Obviously the dynamics of the group has changed and certain players now find themselves in different roles, it wasn’t long ago when I was one of the younger players and now I find myself as one of the more experienced guys.”

“It’s great to see the enthusiasm, I remember I was the same when I first came in and wanted to make my mark and it’s been refreshing to see this heading into the season and hopefully I can install some wisdom into the younger boys.”

“At 25 I didn’t think I would be saying that I’m one of the older guys here but I guess it panned out that way.

"A few of the other Wallabies here at the Brumbies along with myself are trying to take a leadership role within the team and keep the standards up.

“It’s new for me, a challenge personally, as well and to see if I can take my game to the next level but I’m really excited about it.” - Scott Sio

Whilst Canberra is known for it’s cold winter nights, pre-season preparations for the Brumbies have been heating up of late.

“A lot of our pre-season and early games are quite hot, the boys normally adapt quite quickly to the cold when it comes around.

“Training has been great, our bodies are slowly adapting to the workload and everyone is looking really fit and super strong for the coming season.”
