Waratahs playmaker Kurtley Beale has undergone successful surgery on his knee this afternoon after injuring himself in the 'Tahs 31-8 victory over the Bulls on Saturday.

The Waratahs said on their website that Beale's surgery went according to plan.

"The procedure went well with a good fixation of the patella tendon back onto the patella bone. Beale will remain sidelined for four to six months and will spend the next six weeks in a range of motion braces," Waratahs media said.

"The prognosis was much better than expected given the tendon remained intact, requiring less invasive surgery, and that the injury was isolated with no other damage to the knee."

Beale has played his last game for the Waratahs having signed with English side Wasps for 2017 just a day before injuring his knee.
