The ACT, Queensland Red and New South Wales Blue all emerged unbeaten from Day One of the 2014 National Women's Championship at the Institute of Sport in Canberra.

ACT, led by national team skipper Sharni Williams, defeated an exciting Barbarians outfit (24-7) before seeing off Victoria (38-12). The game of the day saw the ACT come back from behind three times to defeat a spirited National Indigenous team (33-19).

Queensland Red, boasting a wealth of international talent in their line-up, sailed through to the Cup Quarter-Finals after proving too powerful for the Australian Services team (43-0), New South Wales White (34-0) and Western Australia (15-7).

Queensland Red Head Coach Sione Fukofuka was happy with his team's display, particularly in the first two games.

"We were a little fatigued in that final game. But we started very well against ASRU and NSW. The level is going to go up a couple of notches tomorrow so we will need to be ready to go from the start."

Utility Cobie-Jane Morgan inspired her New South Wales Blue team with a couple of scintillating performances. Morgan scored 36 points on the day as her side beat South Australia (42-0), Northern Territory (49-0) and Queensland White (23-5) to qualify as top seeds.

In the first Quarter-Final, NSW Blue side will meet the National Indigenous team, while it will be an all-Queensland tie when Red plays White.Defending champions ACT play the impressive Raecene McGregor and her Barbarians. Western Australia play South Australia in the other Cup Quarter-Final.
