Kaitlan Leaney is a talented forward hailing from Coffs Harbour who grew up in surf lifesaving on the NSW north coast before turning her attention to rugby.
Leaney took up the sport as a 17-year-old and played for both the SCU Marlins and Coffs Harbour Snappers.
She moved to Newcastle after high school and joined the Hunter Wildfires in the Jack Scott Cup.
An outstanding athlete, Leaney dominated the local competitions in both rugby 7s and 10s and after three years of senior 15-a-side rugby joined the NSW Waratahs.
A Super Rugby Women's debut came with the Tahs in 2021 before Leaney achieved the ultimate goal of representing the Wallaroos against Fiji in 2022.
A mainstay in gold since, she notched her 25th cap while playing in the WXV 2 tournament in 2024.
Leaney also enjoys stints in the UK with the Harlequins while fulfilling her duties with the national side.
In 2025, Leaney played in 10 of 11 Test matches for her country, including a second Rugby World Cup.
She was named as a co-captain against Samoa and USA respectively, becoming the 20th leader to skipper the Wallaroos.
Off the field Leaney enjoys spending time with friends, the beach, music and food.
