Newly signed in 2015, Brad Wilkin joins the Waratahs' core playing squad with a wealth of experience in both fifteens and Sevens at domestic and international level. It was hard not to notice the hard-working flanker last year, having represented the Australian Sevens on the World Series circuit after signing with the national program in January. At the 2015 National Sevens Championships, Wilkin was named Player of the Tournament. He also joined a few of his fellow Waratahs teammates in the squad that represented Australia at the Federation Oceanic Rugby Union’s Under 20s tournament and the 2015 World Rugby Junior World Championships. Though he attended school in Brisbane, Wilkin was born and raised in the town of Yeoval in central west NSW. His ability at school level led to a call up to the Australian Schoolboys team in 2012 who went on to beat New Zealand in a historic match in Auckland. He was part of the Australian Schoolboys again in 2013. He captained the Queensland Schools team at the Australian Schoolboys Championships held at St. Ignatius College that year after representing his country in Sevens at the Youth Olympics Festival. A former member of the Reds' Elite Development squad, Wilkin was a considered a key talent within the Easts Rugby Union Club in Queensland and was part of the Brisbane City side that took hold of the inaugural National Rugby Championship title.
