Cook Islands-born Ashley Marsters began playing rugby at the age of four in Victoria, inspired by watching her father compete.

She joined junior club Boroondara and played sport alongside her siblings in the backyard.

Marsters took some time off rugby and travelled before playing her senior rugby for Box Hill.

She was an inaugural player for the Melbourne Rebels in 2018 and a mainstay throughout their existence, captaining the side in the final seasons.

Marsters was named in the Wallaroos squad for the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup in France and has been part of the squad ever since, featuring again in the 2021 World Cup.

Marsters is the most-capped player in Wallaroos history, surpassing Liz Patu with 34 caps against Scotland in WXV 2 in Cape Town, 2024, scoring the match-winning try in her milestone game.

Marsters has been versatile throughout her career as a flanker or hooker.
