The Western Force have secured Max Burey for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season after the playmaker inked a one-year extension in Perth.

Burey, 26, becomes the latest in a strong contingent of players retained in the West, joining the likes of Wallabies Nic White, Tom Robertson, Carlo Tizzano and Ben Donaldson.

Burey has earned 26 caps since joining the Force in 2023 and is a rising leader within the squad after serving as co-captain on tour in South Africa.

The Wagga Wagga product has also excelled at Shute Shield level and played a key role for 2024 runners-up Northern Suburbs - the club at which he first worked under Force coach Simon Cron.

“I love what I do, and I love the organisation as a whole, so to be extended the opportunity to continue to do so, makes me very pleased,” Burey said in an official club statement.

“It’s a great club with loyal fans. It’s a great part of the world and I have developed some great relationships here and want to continue on the journey with those people.

“I’ve been here for three years now and each year the organisation as a whole has continued to improve year on year.

“There is a real strive to get better in all areas so I’m excited to see what heights we can reach as a club.”

“Max has the ability to play first five-eighth and full-back, which gives us some flexibility in the squad," Cron added.

“He’s very diligent around understanding how we want to play and what we want to do. He’s continuing to grow his game at the Western Force.

“He has great feet and is continuing to develop his game management which is really exciting for the team.

“He’s a good team man and has some close relationships with other players in our team which is a big part of cohesion and developing a squad that can go deep into finals.”
