The Wallaroos have started their 2025 campaign with a comfortable 43-7 win over Fijiana in Suva.

The Australians were in control for the majority of the game and scored seven unanswered tries to race away with the victory.

It was a historic occasion for the Australians as they put on a show in their first Test in Fiji.

Centre Bienne Terita was excellent in the first half with a double before succumbing to a hamstring injury,

The win came at a significant cost for the Wallaroos, with Player of the Year Maya Stewart hobbling off early with a non-contact knee injury.

Stewart departed in the 18th minute after pulling up in pain following an attacking raid inside their own half.

The Fijians put up a fierce challenge early on as 20-year-old captain Alfreda Fisher crossed for the opener, the youngest skipper in team history.

This woke the Australians up as Terita carved up the defence.

The centre crossed for a double following Caitlyn Halse’s 10th minute try to give Australia a commanding lead.

However, it was in the process of scoring the second try Terita joined Maya Stewart in the sheds as she clutched her hamstring, the same injury that has kept her out of the Sevens circuit in 2025.

The Wallaroos’ forward pack were in fine form as captain Siokapesi Palu finished off a try set up by several big runs and a turnover.

Desiree Miller crossed late in the half as the Australians took a 31-7 lead into the break.

The one-way traffic continued after the break when Layne Morgan caught Fiji napping for a five-pointer.

Hooker Tania Naden sealed the win with 15 minutes to go with a rolling maul try.

The win extends their record winning streak to four matches as they prepare for next week’s clash with New Zealand likely without Stewart and Terita.

"It was an even game, but we talk about growth and super proud of our girls going out there," Palu said post-match.

"A few debutantes, opportunities out there, but we've got to give credit to Fiji. They're a physical team, and in that second half, you could see."
