Wallabies halfback Issak Fines-Leleiwasa has declared his intentions to play for Fiji after signing with the Drua for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season.

It follows his announced departure from the Western Force after more than 50 club appearances for the Sea of Blue.

Fines-Leleiwasa - who has also represented the ACT Brumbies - was one of many surprise selections in Australia's 2023 World Cup Squad and earned three Test caps against France, Fiji and Portugal.

However, the 29-year-old will now push for a Flying Fijians debut when his three-year international stand down period concludes in October 2026.

In a statement, Fines-Leleiwasa described the move was "a new chapter for me and my family".

"I’ve enjoyed every opportunity I got to represent the Force with a great bunch of men and some of the best and most loyal fans being the Sea of Blue," Fines-Leleiwasa said.

“I’ve made life-long connections both on and off the field and that’s something I’m truly grateful for.

"Being a part of the Drua family will be special not only with the club but also the fans, I can’t wait for this next challenge," he added.

Drua coach Glen Jackson shared his excitement at welcoming Issak to the Drua Vuvale.

"Issak brings a wealth of experience in Super Rugby Pacific and Test Rugby, playing for Australia. He will also be eligible to play for Fiji soon," Jackson said in a statement.

"Issak is a good leader and an outstanding rugby player. He will help to lead our team with Frank, Simi and as well as young Philip. It’s a position that is important in any team and we are lucky to have the depth with international quality players."

Fines-Leleiwasa will remain eligible to play for the Force in the Super Rugby AUS competition commencing in September.
