Super Rugby Women's TOTW: Looking at the best players from Round Three

Round Three of Super Rugby Women's saw teams start to make their push towards the finals.

The NSW Waratahs are one step closer towards wrapping up top spot with a tough win over the Melbourne Rebels.

The ACT Brumbies managed their first win over the Queensland Reds as the Western Force went down to the Fijian Drua.

With this in mind, Rugby.com.au has enlisted the help of injured Wallaroos and Reds prop Bree-Anna Cheatham to select its team of the week.

1. Brianna Hoy (NSW Waratahs)

Hoy once again stepped up for the Waratahs as they inch closer to a minor premiership.

Her handing was excellent in one of the tries of the season to set up Desiree Miller whilst once again strong at set-piece time.

2. Jayme Nuku (Melbourne Rebels)

Nuku has added class to the Rebels pack as the former Hurricane impresses for the Rebels.

She was rock solid in defence whilst adding another try to her tally.

3. Maletina Brown (Queensland Reds)

Brown’s stint was short but it was dominant for the Reds.

She was swatting defenders away whilst dominant at scrum time.

4. Michaela Leonard (Western Force)

Leonard fought hard in the defeat to the Fijian Drua as they hunt for a maiden home semi-final.

The Wallaroos captain controlled the lineout and kept the Force in the contest throughout the game.

5. Jade Coates (Fijian Drua)

Coates was crucial in the Drua's win over the Force in tough conditions.

The lock was great in defence while controlling the set-piece game.

6. Mel Kawa (Melbourne Rebels)

Kawa almost inspired a second half comeback with her tireless work ethic.

The captain was heroic with several key tackles whilst winning plenty of turnover ball 

7. Lydia Kavoa (ACT Brumbies)

Kavoa was a workhorse for the Brumbies in the win over the Reds.

She was constantly taking the line on and was dominant in defence with several big tackles.

8. Grace Hamilton (Melbourne Rebels)

In a battle against her old side, Hamilton stood up for the Rebels.

She constantly took the ball over the advantage line and inspire her team as they fought until the end.

9. Layne Morgan (NSW Waratahs)

Morgan was dangerous for the Waratahs across her 60-minute stint.

She had a hand in three of the Waratahs' tries, including a great quick tap to catch the Rebels napping to set up Stewart.

10. Cassie Siataga (Melbourne Rebels)

Siataga is another Farah Palmer Cup standout that has impressed for the Rebels in 2024.

The Samoan international carried strong and her kicking game was on point for the entire game.

11. Adita Milinia (Fijian Drua)

Milinia continues to star for the Drua in their quest for a three-peat.

The winger was deadly with ball in hand, defying the wet conditions to help them to the win.

12. Kayla Sauvao (ACT Brumbies)

Sauvao has had a major impact on her return to Rugby Union.

The former Wallaroo won several key turnovers whilst constantly breaking the line in attack.

 13. Georgina Friedrichs (NSW Waratahs)

Friedrichs continues to shine in a dominant Waratahs backline.

She was unstoppable on the weekend, scoring an early try whilst constantly breaking the line.

14. Maya Stewart (NSW Waratahs)

Stewart’s freakish start to the season continued, adding to her all-time try-scoring record.

She crossed for a double as the flyer ran riot against a Rebels defence that struggled to continue her.

15. Caitlyn Halse (NSW Waratahs)

The teenager sensation has backed up her breakout year from 2023 with a strong start to the Super Rugby Women’s season.

She set up a try early in the game and nailed an important 50/22 for the Waratahs in the convincing win.
