Meanwhile, the ACT Brumbies ended their winning drought with a last minute winner to take down the Queensland Reds at Ballymore.

Rugby.com.au selects its team of the week from Round One.

Front Row: Karalaini Naisewa (Fijian Drua), Tania Naden (ACT Brumbies) and Eva Karpani (Queensland Reds)

Naisewa is rewarded for a dominant Fijiana Drua scrum effort, winning several penalties against her tight-head counterparts.

Meanwhile, Naden anchored a strong set-piece performance from the Brumbies, nailing all but one throw and scoring a crucial try.

Karpani rounds out the list after she was one of the Reds’ best in defeat, scoring a try and breaking three tackles.

Second Row: Mereoni Nakesa (Fijiana Drua) and Kaitlan Leaney (NSW Waratahs)

Nakesa and Leaney had an entertaining battle across the park, both adding significant value to their respective teams.

Lenaey produced a game-high 18 carries, constantly making metres across the advantage line while Nakesa looked damaging with ball in hand, especially from in close as she broke three tackles.

Back Row: Piper Duck (NSW Waratahs), Zoe Hanna (Queensland Reds) and Siokapesi Palu Sekona (ACT Brumbies)

Duck relished the absence of captaincy as she crossed for a crucial try whilst also breaking four tackles and making a team high 13 of her own.

She is joined by Reds flanker Hanna, who got through a ton of underrated work within close to try and inspire the Queenslanders home at Ballymore.

The Wallaroos skipper Palu Sekona rounds out the forward pack, making strong ground with her carries as she topped their carry metres (56.5) and post-conaact metres (33.4)

Halves: Anne Fernandez de Corres (ACT Brumbies) and Pleuni Klevit (NSW Waratahs)

Two new recruits get the nod in the halves after inspiring their teams to wins.

Spanish international Fernandez de Corres was a threat constantly around the ruck, while Dutch recruit Klevit had a hand in four tries during a dominant first half display.

Centres: Josivini Naihamu (Fijiana Drua) and Georgina Friedrichs (NSW Waratahs)

Naihamu was quality again for the Drua in the midfield, recording a team high six tackle busts as she crossed for a well deserved try late in the game.

She partners with fellow international Friedrichs, who scored a double in the crucial win.

Outside Backs: Desiree Miller (NSW Waratahs), Aqeula Raitubu (Fijiana Drua) and Faitala Moleka (ACT Brumbies)

Miller was the standout from the weekend, recording 22 points as she scored a classy double to go with several tough conversions.

It was almost a shootout with opposite number Raitubu, who finished off a great first half try and set up another.

Moleka iced the game for the Brumbies to break their drought but her influence was more than just a kick, creating two line breaks and making two tackle busts.
