As for the Crusaders, they have produced dominant victories over the Fijian Drua and Blues as they look to defend their title.

The Chiefs have confirmed a relatively settled line-up, with Pita Gus Sowakula coming into the starting side.

He will play at blindside flanker, with Luke Jacobson and co-captain Sam Cane completing the back-row.

Cane will become just the second Chief to bring up 150 caps, joining legend Liam Messam.

"We are fortunate to have named a relatively unchanged line-up from last week for this week’s final. Being put under pressure over the last few weeks has given us real belief we can deal with whatever comes our way on the weekend." coach Clayton McMillan said.

"The Crusaders are clearly a quality side who will come here well prepared, with a lot of belief, and a legacy of turning up on the big stage. We respect that – there’s no point denying it, but we aren’t daunted by the task at hand either."

As for the Crusaders, they are boosted by the return of departing All Black Sam Whitelock.

Whitelock has missed the past fortnight with an Achilles injury, partnering Scott Barrett in the second-row as Quinten Strange reverts back to the bench.

“They’ve been the form team throughout the competition, so we respect them and are looking forward to the challenge of going up there,” Crusaders forwards coach Dan Perrin said.

“We’ve got a couple of clear areas that we’re focused on, and if we go up there and execute what we want it should be a good day at the office.

“We respect what they’ve done throughout the year, but we don’t fear it.”

Hamilton is already a sellout for an entertaining clash, with players given the last chance to impress Ian Foster before the All Blacks' opening Test of 2023 against Argentina.
