Super Rugby Men’s U16s 2025 TOTW: The best Australian performers from Round Two

The Super Rugby U16s competition ramps up with two massive wins over the weekend in Round Two.

The NSW Waratahs continued their rampant start as they took care of Western Force, while the Queensland Reds took care of Victoria.

Rugby Australia's High Performance staff select their Team of the Week.

1. Moses Faleafa (Queensland Reds)

The loosehead prop impressed as the Reds opened their season with a brilliant showing.

Faleafa set the platform up front, making big post-contact metres to go with his two tackle busts.

2. Noah Gaffney (Queensland Reds)

Gaffney delivered a clean performance at hooker for the Reds.

The hooker largely hit his mark at lineout to go with a 100% success rate on defence.

3. Kaiasi Talakai (NSW Waratahs)

The prop is the latest in a long line of Talakais dominating scrums in Australian Rugby.

With siblings Sam and Adiana making their name, Talakai was excellent in a 36-minute shift.

4. Ruari Basten (NSW Waratahs)

Basten’s work in the middle was massive in another large win for the Waratahs.

The lock dominated the lineout game as the ‘Tahs were flawless across their 11 throws.

5. Denver Bradford (Queensland Reds)

Bradford wraps up the Reds’ dominance over the tight five as they controlled the area against Victoria.

His carries were strong, recording a pair of tackle busts in the big win.

6. Bareek Kleine-Deters Ausage (Western Force)

Kleine-Deters Ausage is the lone Force selection after a tireless showing amid the one-way traffic.

It was a rough afternoon for the Force but the form of the back-rower provides some light.

7. Kohen Tavita (Victoria)

Tavita flies the flag for Victoria in the forwards after another tough defeat on the road.

He led the tackles with a monster 16, including some big hits to try and rock the Reds.

8. Cordell Arama (NSW Waratahs)

Arama was an absolute monster as he skittled Force defenders.

The powerful back-rower had a remarkable 13 tackle busts as he was a one-man wrecking ball.

9. Izak Holmes (NSW Waratahs)

Back-to-back nominations for the classy scrumhalf as he helped piece apart the Force defence.

He set up four line breaks and got in on the fun with his second try in as many games.

10. Wilson Ruthven (NSW Waratahs)

The son of championship-winning coach Mike was at the forefront of the dominance, setting the tempo with a second minute try.

In total, the young half had a remarkable 31 points, which included 13/14 conversions.

11. Eitini Samasoni (Victoria)

Samasoni flies onto the wing for Victoria after a good showing in defeat.

The winger held his own amid the influx of points from the Queenslanders.

12. Charlie Xuereb (NSW Waratahs)

Xuereb is another Waratah who earns back-to-back nobs after another special performance.

The midfielder racked up five line break assists and five tackle busts in the big win.

13. Sangwani Chinula (Queensland Reds)

Chinula tore apart the Force, particularly towards the back end of the game.

In total, he had four line breaks, six defenders beaten and a double.

14. Asher Chapman (NSW Waratahs)

Rounding out the repeat nominations, Chapman’s try-scoring haul only grows bigger.

In total, the winger has five tries in two games, running for 146 metres off the back of five line breaks.

15. James Smith (Queensland Reds)

Smith got in on the action as the fullback tore apart the Victorians with four line breaks and eight tackle busts.
