The road to the Super Rugby Pacific finals is firmly underway, with four rounds remaining in the season.

The majority of teams still have something to play for, with a host of derbies and clutch matches set to decide the season.

Three teams can still claim the minor premiership and potential home Final advantage.

Meanwhile, up to seven teams are fighting for finals positions, with several of them facing each other in what could be the finals eliminators.

Rugby.com.au breaks down the situation for all 11 teams.

SUPER RUGBY PACIFIC TIEBREAKERS

*Note: If the teams are tied on points on the competition ladder, it will be decided as follows:

1.  Most wins from all matches;

2.  Highest aggregate points difference from all matches;

3.  Most tries from all matches;

4.  Highest aggregate difference of total tries for versus tries scored against from all matches;

5.  Coin toss

HUNTING FOR TITLE

*All three teams have eight wins

1st - Hurricanes (40 points)

at Moana, at Blues, v Highlanders, at Crusaders

The Hurricanes must embrace road life if they are to wrap up the minor premiership and secure top spot.

They have three of their last four games away from Wellington, able to claim top spot if they are to go perfect.

The match against the Blues is especially spicy, given that they blew them away in April.

2nd - Blues (38 points)

at Crusaders, v Hurricanes, at Chiefs

A brutal three week finish for the Blues which starts with a win against the Crusaders in Christchurch

It’s followed by a rough finish against the other minor-premiership-contending teams, with their aspirations of top spot damaged by the fact they’ve already played one extra game this season.

As mentioned, they’ll relish the chance to knock off the Hurricanes at home to potentially set up a minor premiership decider against the Chiefs.

3rd - Chiefs (36 points)

at Reds, v Highlanders, at Crusaders, v Blues

The Chiefs can still claim the minor premiership with maximum points and a Hurricanes defeat but in the same breath could find themselves fighting for a home final.

They’ve got a tough away trip to Queensland before facing a Highlanders team fighting for their finals hopes.

If they get past these challenges, they’ll know what they have to do to go top, hoping the Blues can do the job against the Hurricanes earlier to make their life easier.

HOME FINAL HOPES/FINALS SURVIVAL
4th - Queensland Reds (27 points, six wins)

v Chiefs, at Force, at Moana, v Drua

The Queensland Reds are in a fascinating position in that they could be the team that capitalises on the chaos up top if they can nab an upset or two.

However, in the same breath, there’s every chance they could be drawn into the finals logjam if they can’t take down the Chiefs and/or the Force in the next fortnight.

5th - Crusaders (27 points, five wins)

v Blues, v Chiefs, v Hurricanes

The Crusaders have the luxury of a trio of home games to finish the year, but that’s about it when it comes to favourable draws.

No team has a tougher road home, having just faced the Hurricanes last week, and they need at least one win to secure their spot in the finals.

Failure to do so brings them firmly back to the pack and in danger of missing the finals.

6th - ACT Brumbies (25 points, five wins)

v Force, at Waratahs, v Moana

The Brumbies are currently on a slide but have the best run home of the top six teams.

The Force are no easy beats given their form, but they’ll enter as comfortable favourites against the Waratahs and Moana Pasifika.

They should be good enough to secure their spot, but need to start performing if they are to make a dent in the finals.

FIGHTING FOR FINALS
7th - Fijian Drua (20 points, five wins)

v Waratahs, at Force, at Reds

The Drua kept themselves alive with a clutch win over the Highlanders last week, giving them the tie-breaker out of the teams hunting for sixth.

Remarkably, the team has not got a bonus point all year, which could come back to haunt them.

If they are to make their maiden finals, they’ll need at least one away win, finishing their season against the Force and Reds, while hoping the team above and around them take each other out.

8th - NSW Waratahs (20 points, four wins, -46 points difference)

at Highlanders, at Drua, v Brumbies, at Force

The Waratahs have the luxury of an extra game in hand as they look to turn around their season.

The next fortnight will determine their season against fellow finals hopefuls the Highlanders and the Drua.

They need a win over either the Brumbies or Drua while likely hoping the Crusaders don’t pull off an upset or two.

9th - Highlanders (20 points, four wins, -55 points difference)

v Waratahs, at Chiefs, at Hurricanes

The Highlanders face an uphill battle, still to play two of the top teams of the competition.

This Saturday’s match against the Waratahs is basically must-win, needing not only victory but a big one to turn around their points difference, which will be the second tie-breaker if the teams are tied on points.

The Highlanders nabbed the big scalp of the Crusaders earlier in the year but have struggled since against their fellow Kiwi teams.

10th - Western Force (18 points, four wins)

at Brumbies, v Reds, v Drua, v Waratahs

The Force are already in finals mode but have thrived with their season on the line.

They have been one of the form teams in the competition, with three wins from their last four matches, narrowly losing to the Fijian Drua.

The maths is simple: keep winning and the rest will work itself out.

OUT OF CONTENTION
11th - Moana Pasifika (four points, one win)

v Hurricanes, v Reds, at Brumbies

Moana Pasifika’s tough season has only continued after another defeat on the weekend.

Their season started strong with their upset win over the Drua but they haven’t tasted success since.
