Queensland standout Rhani Hagan has earned a full-time contract to join the Australia Women's Sevens squad for the 2025-26 SVNS World Series.

Hagan's elevation comes after standout performances during the Next Gen Sevens competition and Australia A's Dubai campaign.

The 19-year-old inspired Queensland to the title, taking down NSW in the Final at Ballymore.

Hagan, a proud Quandamooka and Kullilli woman, has enjoyed a steady rise since picking up the sport three years ago.

She won gold at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, scoring in the Final against Canada.

Hagan joins Mackenzie Davis, Heidi Dennis and Piper Simons in graduating from this squad to the Sevens program, with Faitala Moleka and Caitlyn Halse also featuring in the gold medal campaign.

Women's coach Tim Walsh believes the call-up will help 'accelerate' Hagan's development as they prepare for the return of the World Series in Singapore on January 31.

“Rhani has been on our radar and knocking on the door for a couple years now," Walsh said in a statement.

“Her relocation and centralised training here in Sydney will accelerate her development and prepare her for a professional career in rugby.

“With silky skills, athletic pedigree and determination to win, these attributes make her an ideal fit for the program.”

Australia sits top of the SVNS World Series ladder after two events, coming off a title win in Cape Town.

They will resume in Singapore before returning home to Perth on February 7-8.
