The Sydney Morning Herald reported Amatasero and new recruit Angus Scott-Young got into a skirmish during pre-season training, leaving Scott-Young with a fractured eye-socket.

“Rugby Australia and the NSW Waratahs confirm that Miles Amatosero has been suspended for four games following a formal review into a training ground incident earlier this month,” a statement said on Saturday.

“Amatosero can reduce his suspension to two games upon successful completion of counselling and education programs.

The Waratahs will play trial games against Queensland on January 31 and the Brumbies on February 5.

Amatosero emerged as one of the Waratahs' best during their narrow loss to the British & Irish Lions, looking to secure a starting spot amid the arrivals of new recruits Matt Philip and Angus Blyth.

Scott-Young joined the club in December after departing from English Premiership club Northampton.

The former Red has played 69 Super Rugby games, debuting in 2018.
