Wallabies coach Dave Rennie and captain Michael Hooper spoke after their match against England.

Wallabies captain Michael Hooper will be racing the clock to be fit for next week’s clash with Wales after succumbing to a foot injury.

Hooper limped off the field during the 32-15 defeat to England in the 55th minute, replaced by Pete Samu.

“I’ve done something to my foot,” Hooper confirmed in the post-match press conference.

“We’ll have a look at it (after the match). It feels alright but the medical staff have buoyed me a bit with how it is, which is good.

"It was part of the tackle. Just a rugby injury.”

Hooper has been the cornerstone of the Wallabies line-up under Rennie.

He is the lone player to feature in each of his 19 games as coach, almost playing in every minute as the side undergoes an overhaul.

The injury leaves the 30-year-old pushing to be fit to extend that streak in Sunday’s (Australian time) clash at Principality Stadium against Wales.

“I’ll give it every chance I can,” Hooper responded about whether he will be right to play.

With their skipper off the field, the Wallabies were unable to launch a final attack on England as they kicked cleared, with a late try sealing the win.

Rennie lambasted their lack of discipline and handling as they struggled to build pressure despite remaining in touch on the scoreboard for the majority of the match.

They will likely receive a boost with props Allan Alaalatoa and Taniela Tupou expected to return after missing the England game with concussions.

It comes at a crucial time for a Wallabies side eager to finish their year on a high.

“We’re pretty confident we will get both of those boys back,” coach Dave Rennie added.

“I think the support over here and back home deserve better (than tonight). Definitely want to finish on a high.”
