Australia coach John Manenti admits whilst they are yet to play their best Rugby, he was pleased with the resolve showed in their comeback win over Great Britain.

Manenti's side found themselves down 14-0 after three minutes after a slow start.

However, they refused to give up, with young guns Darby Lancaster and Henry Palmer proving the difference as they raced away with the 26-14 win.

"Far from where we want to be. I'm really trying to focus hard on not being results-orientated. This morning's performance was really good footy but we let ourselves down (in) just a couple of moments and that's all it takes in this competition," Manenti said on the day, having dropped their opener to the USA in extra time.

"We were slow out of the blocks and we had no reason to be and we had to chase the game. Credit to the lads, once they started to get possession and get into the rhythm I thought they looked really good.

"The two wingers scored sensational tries and 'Laws' got another one too. There’s some good footy there and they worked hard to get back in the game, but we cannot put ourselves in that situation in this competition with the good teams.

The GB side caught the Australians napping early, opening the scoring through Morgan Williams, shortly followed over by Ethan Waddleton.

This left the Australians chasing the game, finding the spark through Lancaster.

The Rebel showed why he was one of the brightest stars on the World Series last year, sprinting past the defence to get Australia on the board.

Josh Turner darted through and looked to find Nathan Lawson in space, only for Lawson to go into touch just before he could get it down as they went into the break down seven.

The Australians remained patient and found space through young gun Henry Palmer to level the scores.

With the Aussies full of confidence  Lawson couldn’t be denied a second time, putting Australia ahead with two minutes to go.

Ben Dowling sealed the win a minute later, completing the comeback as John Manenti’s side bounced back from their opening defeat.

"When we good we’re red hot, Cape Town a great example of that, we're certainly a long way from hitting our straps yet," Manenti added.

"We've had a fantastic training block and that doesn't mean anything if you can't replicate that in a tournament but we've had a fantastic training block and expectations are higher than what we produce today and it's not nerves or tension, we just have to be better."
