10:50 am - New Zealand survive Japan scare

New Zealand have started with a 34-12 win over Japan but it was far from as easy as the scoreline suggests.

The Japanese cemented their status as the most improved on tour after taking the lead in the second half after a tense first half.

But the class of the Kiwis was too much, with Jorja Miller's solo efofrt starting a run of four straight tries to blow the game out.

10:45 am - USA hold off Fiji

The USA have started Perth SVNS with a tough 34-15 win over Fiji.

The Americans rallied after receiving a yellow card in each game to deal with the dangerous Fijians, who rallied for a late comeback.

Autumn Czaplicki's last minute try sealed the win after Fiji rolled in three straight tries.
