The Australia Sevens teams are ready to peak at the right time to try and take out the SVNS World Championship.

The Grand Final of the 2024-25 will double as the World Championship, with both sides qualifying after finishing in the top eight of the regular season.

The Women took out two titles in Dubai and Perth, whilst making the final in two others.

Bella Nasser returns as captain as they enter as the defending champions following their Madrid heroics in 2024.

“I think off the back of Madrid last year, it's a really exciting opportunity,” Nasser told Rugby.com.au.

“It's the World Championships, so you've got to throw everything at it.

“I think the group is really buzzing, so we're just excited to get over there and head into the tournament.

“...We've had a few disruptions this year with a few injuries and the 15s transition, so I think that's just been a really good opportunity for the younger girls to get lots of experience in the tournaments earlier.

“Heading into LA, we've now got a really good foundation of a team and we've had plenty of game time together, so I think the cohesion within the team is really good and that's what we've just been focusing on leading into LA.”

As for the Men, 2024-25 has represented a rollercoaster year under new coach Liam Barry.

They have made the podium twice; however, they are coming off their worst result to date in Singapore.

Captain Henry Hutchison was well aware that past form means little ahead of what the team are considering as a ‘mini Olympics.’

“We're pretty aware that everyone's gone back to zero. So, there is an opportunity for us to take advantage of that,” he said to Rugby.com.au.

“[It was] super disappointing, Singapore. We've been up and down all year, so hopefully we can get an immediate response from the group and put in a pretty good result in LA.

“…We always try and peak at these Olympic events and we treat these World Championship events like LA, like mini Olympics. So we're always got our eye on LA and trying to get the best talent, get the best youth to try and grow our squad.”

The Women find themselves in Pool B alongside hosts USA, Fiji and France, whilst the Men will take on Spain, Fiji and New Zealand.

The top two sides from each pool will advance into the semi-finals, with the winners battling it out for the title.
