Thorn extends Brumbies stay through to 2027

The ACT Brumbies are delighted to announce exciting halfback Klayton Thorn has re-signed with the club for a further season, extending his contract until the end of 2027

One of the most entertaining young talents in Australian rugby, Thorn has developed into a key member of the Brumbies squad since arriving in Canberra through the club's development pathway.

Klayton Thorn signs on

A product of Waverley College and Randwick Juniors, Thorn first earned a place in the Brumbies Elite Development Squad before impressing with the Gungahlin Eagles during the 2022 John I Dent Cup season. His performances earned selection in the senior Brumbies squad, and he made his Super Rugby debut against the Western Force in 2023.

Since then, the 23-year-old has become known for his electric running game, sharp service and ability to produce moments of brilliance when his side needs them most.

Klayton Thorn said extending his time with the Brumbies was the continuation of a dream he had as a young rugby player.

"Re-signing with the Brumbies was an easy decision. This club has invested in me since I came through their pathway system, and there was nowhere else I wanted to be. I feel like I'm only just getting started."

"Canberra is home for me now. The coaches, players, staff and the wider Canberra community have all played a role in helping me develop both on and off the field, and I'm incredibly grateful for that."

"This team has everything it needs to do something special and I want to be a part of making that happen for this club and for Canberra."

ACT Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham said Thorn's re-signing was another positive outcome for the club.

"We're very pleased Klayton has committed his future to the Brumbies," Larkham said.

"He's an exciting player with genuine game-breaking ability. His speed around the ruck, vision and instinctive understanding of the game allow him to create opportunities that very few players can."

"Klayton came through our development pathway and has worked extremely hard for every opportunity he's earned. We're looking forward to seeing him continue to develop and play an important role for the Brumbies over the coming seasons."

Thorn's re-signing is another strong example of the Brumbies' commitment to developing and retaining emerging talent through the club's pathways system.

Thorn's re-signing provides another boost for the Brumbies, securing one of the club's most exciting young playmakers through to the end of 2027.

Be there at GIO Stadium this Saturday as Klayton Thorn and the Brumbies charge into Moana Pasifika and build a wave of momentum heading into the finals.
