Plucky Melbourne have spoiled the Crusaders' Super Rugby Trans-Tasman party despite going down 52-26 in their final round clash at Leichhardt Oval.

Rebels flyhalf Carter Gordon headlines the Junior Wallabies' 31-man squad set to take part in the upcoming Oceania Rugby tournament on the Gold Coast.

Gordon had a breakout year for the Rebels, establishing himself as their flyhalf for the future following a successful Trans-Tasman campaign.

Within the squad, there are 11 professional contracted players across the five National Academies and Sevens program, with Gordon joined by Reds duo Kalani Thomas and Mac Grealy and Brumbies lock Tom Hooper.

Newly-signed Western Force flyhalf Reesjan Pasitoa, Reds' Josh Flook and Zane Nonggorr along with promising Brumbies scrum-half Lachie Albert are also set for their debut for the Junior Wallabies.

Jordan Williams will join the program on loan from the Australian Sevens, with the team preparing for their first competitive action since 2019.

A bit of magic from Gordon brings the Rebels back into it.

“31 players have been selected after a difficult selection discussion going over the 65 players who have contributed to the past two Junior Wallaby camps," Junior Wallabies Head Coach Nathan Grey said in a statement.

“A handful of players with Super Rugby experience will add to the academy and club players from across Australia.

"They will be representing themselves, family, friends, and others their age who would love the opportunity to play in an abbreviated Oceania Competition."

The squad will head into camp on June 27 in Queensland before playing in the tournament in early July.
