ACT Brumbies fullback Tom Wright is trying to limit his 'poor' moments as he leads a new-look attacking style for the club.

Wright has always had the ability to break open a game with his brilliance, however, concedes this has often come back to hurt the team.

This was on display in last year's semi-final when his short dropout on half-time nearly led to an easy Chiefs try, forcing the Brumbies to scramble and defend their line.

"I'll always play on the edge," he said to reporters.

“…I’ve been trying to work on having more of those moments than the poor ones  In the past, there’s often been more of those moments where they haven’t come off for me so trying to find that line and have more positive impacts rather than the ones where ‘Slips' (James Slipper) and Harry (Vella) are wondering why they have to go to set-piece again.

"I still roll into every week with the mindset of backing my skill set and backing the work the coaching staff do with us.

“If you can roll in with a confident skill set then there's no reason why you can't do it under the lights."

The fullback has played a key role in the Brumbies' impressive attacking start to the season, sitting second for points per attacking 22m entry and third for tries scored.

Wright's partnership with Corey Toole has especially excelled in the past fortnight, with the pair combined for several tries against Moana Pasifika.

The highlight was a perfect cross-field kick on their own line for the former Sevens star, with Wright finishing off the try-of-the-year contender.

“You don’t have to look far, just look out for his little pink boots. I’m trying to convince him to bring the mullet back but he’s saying he’s mature now," he joked.

“It’s handy have that pace out there, we’ve got to bring something different to the table. The midfield in our backline is all the brute, Andy (Murihead) brings his own thing around his football sense. Noah ties us up and brings us all together."

“…It’s something ‘Bernie’ (Stephen Larkham) and (Rob) Seib has been driving in the key areas and by the time Friday or Saturday comes around, you have to perform under the lights.

“It’s nice to do it on the training park but even better to do it under the bright lights.”
