Following on the heels of the highly successful ANZAC Day clash on the Sunshine Coast in 2026, the Wallaroos and Black Ferns will meet again on the same day in 2027.
The O’Reilly Cup clash will now form part of a double header with the inaugural ANZAC Day Bledisloe Cup clash at Suncorp Stadium between the Wallabies and All Blacks.

Formally announced at ANZAC Square today in Brisbane, in attendance to mark the announcement included Rugby Australia Chair Daniel Herbert, Wallaroo #232 Dillyn Blackburn, Queensland Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Tim Mander, Deputy CEO of RSL Queensland, Troy Watson and Anthony Ryan from the Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
The ANZAC clash concept has been warmly embraced on both sides of the Tasman since the Wallaroos and Black Ferns played on the Sunshine Coast, with 5,508 turning out in support.
The event was marked with several acknowledgements of the ANZAC Crops, with several capped stars of the Wallaroos also members of the Australian Defence Force.
The 2027 double-header match will have significance for both hosting sides in addition to the date, with the Wallabies looking to snap a 13-match losing streak against the men in black ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will see the two sides square off in Pool A.
For the Wallaroos, the match will also mark one of their first fixtures as a fully professional team outfit, with the program set to transition to full-time before the end of 2026.
“ANZAC Day is an occasion that unites Australians and New Zealanders as we reflect on the heroes of our past, the values they have instilled in us, and the gratitude we share for the sacrifices they made in defence of our nations,” Rugby Australia Chair Daniel Herbert said.
“It's therefore a humbling and tremendous honour for rugby to provide a stage to bring our two countries together at Suncorp Stadium on a day that means so much to us all.
“For the first time in 123 years of trans-Tasman rugby rivalry, the Wallabies and the All Blacks will come together on ANZAC Day, and the Wallaroos and the Black Ferns will join them in the O'Reilly Cup Test Match, completing a historic international double-header and an occasion without parallel in the long and proud sporting history of our two nations.
“The Wallaroos and Black Ferns played a Test Match at Sunshine Coast Stadium on ANZAC Day this year, and it was a great success, and to now join forces with the Wallabies and the All Blacks at Suncorp Stadium will elevate this event even further.
“It's a first-of-its-kind event, and it will draw in huge numbers of rugby supporters from both sides of the Tasman.”
“We're really excited for the double-header,” Blackburn added.
“We did play earlier this year for ANZAC Day, and that was an amazing game.
“This season's really built up for next year, I'm really excited for the game against Black Ferns. We're also really excited to have a double-header, because the last double-header was a great success in Sydney. The girls smashed it against Scotland.
“It means a lot to have Black Ferns, All Blacks, Wallaroos and Wallabies all in one space.”
“It's a fantastic testament to Australian Rugby and the Queensland Government to bring these events here to Queensland,” Troy Watson, Deputy CEO of RSL Queensland, added.
“ANZAC Day is a significant commemoration for both of our countries, deeply rooted in respect, mateship and sacrifice.
“It's had a long connection with sporting codes and sporting activities, including back on the battlefields in the First World War, games between allies, even games between combatants.
“It's wonderful to have this event here with us on ANZAC Day next year, and we're really proud to be supporting the event.”
