The Wallabies are excited to test themselves against the best as the build-up to the Nations Championship begins.

There are exciting 100 days to go until the opening weekend of the new-look competition, pitting 12 of the best teams against each other.

It'll start for Joe Schmidt's side in Sydney against Ireland on July 4, before taking on France in Brisbane and Italy in Perth.

From here, the competition shifts up north, with the Australians facing England, Wales and Scotland.

“The Nations Championship is a really exciting initiative and as players we’re really keen to rip into it. It’s the best of the south vs the best of the north," scrumhalf Tate McDermott said in a statement.

“We can’t wait to play and experience the first year of this Championship. The game is always special, but this gives us a bit more structure. At the end of the year there is a goal now, and we want to be the best in the world each year.

“This tournament will be unmissable for the supporters. Now the whole calendar is aligned across north and south, it gives fans real clarity on how the rugby calendar is mapped out and the games they can come along to or watch on television.”

“There’s a lot more at stake now. It’s not just friendlies, every game means something," flanker Fraser McReight added.

The competition culminates in a Finals Weekend in London, with all 12 teams facing off across three double headers.

It will see the sides ranked within their hemispheres as the first placed Southern Hemisphere team takes on the first placed Northern Hemisphere team, with this taking place all the way down to the sixth placed teams.

The matches will be held at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, with skipper Harry Wilson eager for the big stage.

“Having three double headers across three days will give more people the opportunity to watch. Allianz Stadium is amazing – the supporters are always really loud and it’s always such a good atmosphere," Wilson believes.

“There will be fans from across the whole world for Finals weekend and I can’t wait.”

“The Finals weekend is going to be an awesome atmosphere at Twickenham," McReight said.

"It’s going to be a real spectacle. Players are going to love it and I’m sure the fans are going to love it too.”
