If the pressure of making finals wasn't enough, Western Force coach Simon Cron is urging the team to deliver a special performance as the club celebrates a special moment in its history.

Saturday's match against the ACT Brumbies will see the Force recognise its 20th anniversary. In 2006, the Force played its first-ever game as a club against the ACT Brumbies.

To mark the occasion, a who's who of Force legends will return to celebrate their history, including current RA President Nathan Sharpe, cult hero Nick Cummins and all-time most capped player Matt Hodgson.

"We've always got guys coming through in the sheds and it's been a big push by us to reconnect with our past this year and making sure that we reconnect with a lot of those previous players," Cron told reporters.

"We're excited by having them here and they'll be coming in after the game to catch up and spend time with us.

"...I know they follow the team and I know they comment post-game. Nathan (Sharpe) been telling me all about it, so it's cool."

It adds meaning to what is already a must-win game for the Western Force if they wish to play in the finals.

They sit two points outside the top six after two defeats on their NZ tour to the Chiefs and Blues.

"It's a really critical game for us. Like I probably mentioned, every game is critical for us," Cron notes.

"We're back on home soil, so it's a great opportunity for us to show how we can play.

"...You can jump from third to eighth in a matter of a game. For us, it's just important that we go out there and focus on what we've got to do, which is process-driven rather than outcome."

In a boost for Force and Wallabies fans, Cron confirmed Dylan Pietsch was close to a return from a quad injury.

"He's looking pretty good at the moment in terms of a return to play," he added.

"He's had a bit of a rough run this year. They'll make sure they do everything right by him to get him right."
