NSW Waratahs playmaker Tane Edmed has put pen to paper on a contract extension for the 2025 season.

The 24-year-old has signed a one-year deal to remain at the club where he progressed through the junior development pathways to achieve his Super Rugby debut in 2021.

Edmed, who is currently plying his trade for North Harbour in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship, has gone on to make 43 Super Rugby appearances for the Waratahs.

“I’m extremely happy and excited to sign with the Tahs for another year,” Edmed said.

“The opportunity to wear the sky blue and represent my friends and family in my home state is something I don’t take for granted.

“I love the club and the people I get to work with every day.

“I’m already looking forward to building my game under the new coaching staff and helping take the Waratahs back to where we belong.”

The re-signing of Edmed confirms a key cog in the Waratahs backline for 2025, which will be bolstered by the arrival of high-profile recruits Andrew Kellaway, Darby Lancaster and Joseph Suaalii under new head coach Dan McKellar.

“We’re delighted to have Tane commit to our club for the 2025 season,” NSW Waratahs Director of Performance Simon Raiwalui said.

“Tane is a shining example of a local junior who progressed through the Waratahs development pathways to make his mark in Super Rugby.

“He understands what it means to pull on the Waratahs jersey and we are genuinely excited about what he can deliver for the members and fans next season.”
