Clubland might have wrapped up along Australia's eastern seaboard and the golden West but there's still finals rugby to review and preview.

Tasmanian's state-wide competitions wrapped up last weekend with Launceston and Taroona defending their respective men's and women's titles.

Launceston racked up their fourth straight TRU men's premiership after seeing off a spirited Penguins 40-36 in an all-time classic that came down to goalkicking.

Taroona winger George Chaperon-Tucker was superb with a four-try haul as the rivals bagged six tries apiece, but Tigers' sharpshooter TJ Pieters proved the difference with five conversions to deliver Launceston's second unbeaten season.

The Penguins still found joy on grand final day with their women racking up 100 points in a thumping victory over Burnie while doubles to Ionae Taufui and Josh Dawai saw Hobart Harlequins take out the Division 2 Tasmanian men's championship 42-29 over Hobart Lions.

In South Australia, Burnside kept their dreams of a men's Premier Grade hat-trick alive by downing Brighton 35-18.

The reigning premiers will now face Old Collegians in this weekend's decider after losing their earlier qualifying final 34-29.

Meanwhile Woodville's title defence was dashed in the women's semi finals after Burnside sprang a 36-26 upset over the Wasps.

Nikki Kelly starred with a hat-trick against the 2024 women's premiers and will spearhead Burnside's grand final clash with perennial powerhouse Souths this weekend.
