Superstar Australian Sevens playmaker Charlotte Caslick has announced she is expecting a child, sharing the wonderful news on social media.

Caslick made the announcement on Saturday with a photo alongside partner and former Men's captain Lewis Holland.

"Mum and dad," the caption read, which included a video of the two-time World Rugby Player of the Year telling her teammates.

The 30-year-old last played in the SVNS World Series close to 12 months ago after pursuing her dream of playing at the 2025 Rugby World Cup with the Wallaroos.

Injury would derail her campaign and the start of the 25-26 Series, dealing with a calf complaint.

Caslick is the most decorated Sevens player in Australian history, one of two, alongside Sharni Smale (née Williams), to win Olympic, Commonwealth and World Cup gold.

She also holds the record for most appearances by an Australian, to go with several Shawn Mackay Awards for Player of the Year.

Caslick told Rugby.com.au of her intentions to play at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and to feature in the 2029 home Rugby World Cup.

"I definitely want to still be around for the next Olympics," she said last month.

"Obviously, missing out the World Cup last year, I think I'll try and stay around for the '29 World Cup, especially being at home. I think it'll be a great place to end my career."

The former captain will continue to take a backseat role within the program following the announcement, expressing her delight at watching the next generation come through and shine.

"I've been loving it. I think even at training, trying to give them as much guidance and mentor them as best I can has been really fun and something different," she expressed.

"At the end of my career, [it's] something that I would love to move in towards, so I've been really enjoying watching how hard they train and then seeing the work that they do at training come out onto the field."
