The Brumbies have acted quickly after the departure of Solomone Kata, signing former Waratah and Sevens outside back Cam Clark for the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Clark played 35 times for the NSW Waratahs after making his Super Rugby debut in 2017.

The former Sevens star would then make the move to the USA, plying his trade in the MLR with the San Diego Legion.

The 28-year-old was excited to return back to Australia, believing the club will be a perfect fit for his game.

"I'm really excited to be back in Super Rugby and to be joining the Brumbies," Clark said in a statement.

"I loved my time with San Diego but I'm looking forward to this challenge again coming into an exciting time for Super Rugby with a new competition and the new challenges that comes with that.

"I've been an admirer of the club for a long time, the spirit they seem to have and I'm just keen to be a part of that, to work hard and to put my hand up for selection."

Having seen the likes of club team-mate Will Miller achieve success in the nation's capital, Clark believes the chance to join the Brumbies was the perfect opportunity.

“I always loved how the Brumbies have played,” Clark elaborated on when speaking to media.

“The results speak for themselves being so successful over time. I’ve also seen a number of players go down there and take their game to the next level under the coaching staff there.

"I’m still looking to get better as a player and I think it’s going to be a great environment to do that in.

“You can see in the way they play and the culture they have it’s going to be good so it’s a really easy decision to say yes and jump on.”

The excitement was shared by coach Dan McKellar, who is confident he can push their backline for selection.

"We've watched Cam closely for a while now and we're happy he'll be joining us for at least this season," McKellar added.

"He's a quality player, excellent physical attributes and he's experienced which means he'll come in knowing what's expected at this level.

"One thing we all noticed from his time at the Waratahs was just how hard he plays the game, and after a really good season playing in the US, we think he'll come into our program and push hard for a jersey."
