The Queensland Reds took on Super W's newest squad, Fijiana, in a pre-season trial at Ballymore.

Rugby Australia has confirmed Saturday's round one Super W match between the Brumbies and NSW Waratahs will be shown live on 9Go as well as Stan Sport.

This will mark the first regular-season game to broadcast live on free-to-air television in Super W history.

The match, which kicks off at 5:15pm AEDT, will see the undefeated champions Waratahs take on the Brumbies at GIO Stadium as part of a double-header with the men's fixture, set to kick off at 7:45 pm (AEDT).

It will be one of four regular season fixtures featured on Nine throughout the season, which includes the Queensland Reds taking on newcomers Fijiana Drua (12 March) in Round Two, the Waratahs facing the Melbourne Rebels (19 March) in Round Three, the Queensland Reds up against the Melbourne Rebels (2 April) in Round Five as well as the Grand Final (24 April).

The historic free-to-air coverage coincides with 'Women in Rugby' round in Super Rugby Pacific, a celebration of the contribution of women throughout all levels of the game, including athletes, administrators, match officials, volunteers and fans.

“This opportunity again highlights the benefits and value of our broadcast partner with both linear (FTA) and digital (Stan) delivery to ensure our game reaches all our fans simultaneously," RA CEO Andy Marinos said in a statement.

“I’d like to thank Mike Sneesby and the team at Nine and Stan for their commitment to bringing Buildcorp Super W to more fans than ever before.

“Our partnership with Nine and Stan continues to deliver exponential growth in the public exposure of our game at all levels, making our players more accessible than ever before.

“To be able to have this doubleheader on Nine as we celebrate Women in Rugby Round only helps give further exposure to our women’s programs in a monumental year for our game.”

Every game of the 2022 season will be shown live on Stan Sport, with the Western Force set to kick off the season against the Queensland Reds in HBF Park.

This will be followed by Fijiana Drua's historic first game in Super W, set to face the Melbourne Rebels on March 5.
