The Moana Pasifika hosted the Brumbies in the final round of Super Rugby Pacific.

The Brumbies are hoping they can use the near-freezing conditions at GIO Stadium to their advantage as they prepare for the Hurricanes on Saturday.

Dan McKellar's men are coming off three straight defeats, falling to Moana Pasifika last week 32-20 in Auckland.

“After a tough loss like that you can make things too complicated but we just didn’t win the collision area there,” prop Scott Sio believes.

“They had a lot of strong ball runners that got over the advantage line and defending on the back foot is always tough against any team in this competition. Our discipline on top of that let us down.

“I thought (Moana) really showed up for their captain ‘Keps’ (Sekope Kepu) who played 150 caps so unfortunately for us we were on the wrong side.”

Sio was refusing to put too much weight into their success from round 11, wary of the threats they possess across the park.

“The great thing for us is we’re going to see a similar picture to last week,” Sio believes.

“The beauty for us is we don’t have to complicate things, we just have to turn up physically.

“We understand there were things that worked for us (last time) but they’re a quality side and they will make adjustments.”

“If you look at the individuals they have, they’ve got strike power across the park,” fullback Tom Banks added.

“It’s about trying to nullify those and play to our strengths. It’s about turning up and bring a lot of intent.”

When it comes to finals time, the Brumbies have built GIO Stadium into a fortress, winning nine of their last 11 finals games on home soil.

As well as this, they have won four of their last five against the Hurricanes in Canberra, eager to replicate this effort on Saturday.

“GIO (Stadium) is an awesome ground to play at and a really tough place for opposition to come to,” Banks believes.

“It’s a tough place to come to and win so we’re pumped to be back at home.

“Looking from the outside in to Australia, everyone thinks its all clear skies and bright sunlight but here it’s tough conditions, it builds a lot of character playing for the Brumbies and that’s what the club has been built on the back of that,” Sio added.
