Eastern Suburbs and Warringah Rats will contest this weekend's Shute Shield decider after shining across a rain-soaked preliminary final round in Sydney.

Aussie Sevens teammates Michael Icely and Darby Lancaster bagged a try apiece as Beasties ground out a 33-19 win over Eastwood to punch their ticket to a Shield title defence.

Meanwhile it was the Rats' day as late tries from Ivan Fepuleai and Charlie McKill ended Norths' hopes of a grand final redemption, Warringah running away 38-22 victors.

2025 will mark the Rats' first Shute Shield decider in six seasons as they look to end an eight-year premiership drought dating back to 2017.

Wanneroo's women - the Divaz - will also feature on grand final day after rolling Palmyra 46-8 to book their title defence. They'll face Wests Scarborough, who punched their ticket with a hard-fought 17-5 win over Kalamunda.
