Rugby Australia and the ACT Brumbies are pleased to confirm the re-signing of prop Blake Schoupp for an additional three years through to the end of 2029.

Schoupp, 28, made his international debut off the bench against Les Bleus at Stade de France in 2023 before representing the Wallabies in four more Tests at the Rugby World Cup later that year.

A powerful and skilful scrummager, Schoupp was dealt a setback in 2025 after rupturing his Achilles during a Super Rugby Pacific game against the Queensland Reds that prematurely ended his season.

He has rebounded strongly in 2026, playing all six games thus far for the in-form Brumbies and providing punch off the bench against quality opposition.

Born in Wollongong, Schoupp was a Woonona Shamrocks junior before establishing himself as a schoolboy representative front-rower with St Joseph’s Nudgee College in Queensland ahead of a move home to NSW for club stints with Randwick and Southern District.

He played the first of his 35 Super Rugby Pacific matches for the Brumbies against the Waratahs to open the 2023 season, marking a rapid rise that culminated in a Rugby World Cup berth seven months later.

Wallaby No. 970 Schoupp said:

“Canberra is home for me and I couldn’t be happier to be staying on at the Brumbies. This group means a lot to me, and I feel like we’re building something really special here.

“The environment we’ve got, the people around the club, and the support from the fans — it all makes you want to stick around and be part of it. I’m excited for what’s ahead and keen to keep contributing however I can.

“Coming back from injury wasn’t easy, but the belief the club showed in me really stuck. I just want to repay that trust every time I pull on the jersey.”

Rugby Australia Director of High Performance Peter Horne said:

“Blake has bounced back from his injury setback last year and has made a positive impact for the Brumbies so far this season. At 28, and with Rugby World Cup experience, he is entering his prime years as a loosehead and is committed to pushing for a gold jersey once again.

“Rugby Australia is building a solid stable of front-rowers as we plan towards next year’s home Rugby World Cup and Blake’s strong scrummaging and good work ethic adds to that depth. Blake has benefited from the mentoring of James Slipper at the Brumbies. We look forward to his continued growth and improvement over the next three years.”

Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham said:

“It’s great for the club to re-sign a player like Blake. He’s shown incredible resilience to come back from his injury, and he’s repaying the faith of the club and our fans with his performances on the field.

“Blake brings great energy and a positive vibe to the group, and that’s really important for us. On top of that, his set-piece work is top class, and he’s continuing to develop his all-round game.

“He’s a player who adds a lot to this squad, both on and off the field, so we’re really pleased to have him locked in moving forward.”
