The Black Ferns have delivered a world-class second half to defeat the Wallaroos 37-12 in Wellington.

Jo Yapp's side were on top in the first 35 minutes, troubling the Kiwis in their quest for their first win over their Kiwi counterparts.

They led for the majority of the half as an early Charlotte Caslick try gave them the advantage.

But it was the Portia Woodman-Wickliffe show as the winger finished with a hat-trick to help inspire the Kiwis to victory.

They scored 32 unanswered points to sweep the O'Reilly Cup, with Jorja Miller's solo effort the standout of the bunch.

The Wallaroos looked to be in for a tough day when Woodman-Wickliffe sprinted away for the opener inside 90 seconds.

However, the visitors were quick to respond through centre Charlotte Caslick, in her third different position in three straight games.

Caslick ran a lovely line to loop behind the rolling maul and crash over to give Australia the lead.

It’s an advantage Jo Yapp’s side would hold until late in the half as their breakdown pressure caused the Kiwis problems.

They created several turnovers and mistakes, with the defending World Cup champions struggling to handle the conditions.

It took Woodman-Wickliffe to steady the ship with her second to put the Kiwis up 10-7 at the break.

From here, the hosts found their groove as their superstar players built an imposing lead in the second half.

Co-captain Ruahei Demant powered her way over for a crucial try before Sevens star Miller scored a spectacular solo try.

Miller collected the ball from the goal-line dropout and burst through the Wallaroos defence, beating the fullback and the covering defence to light up the Wellington crowd.

Woodman-Wickliffe completed the hat-trick before the hour mark, edging closer to 50 career tries.

Sylvia Brunt sealed the win with 18 minutes to go after setting up the chance with a 50-22, allowing the inside centre to bash over the line for the try.

Prop Lydia Kavoa got a consolation try late for the Wallaroos in the final minutes, but it was all New Zealand in their final game before their World Cup defence commences.
