The Australian Sevens sides have confirmed their teams for the inaugural New York event on the SVNS World Series.

Women’s coach Tim Walsh has made a trio of changes, headlined by the injury return of Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea.

The Commonwealth Games gold medalist last pulled on the gold jersey before the 2024 Paris Olympics, only for a long-term knee injury to cruel her campaign.

She will be joined in the squad by Queensland-born duo Teagan Levi and Kaitlin Shave.

Levi reunites with sister Maddison after she impressed during the Next Gen Sevens competition.

They replace Mackenzie Davis, Bridget Clark and Kiiahla Duff, looking to break New Zealand’s current streak of three titles in a row.

"We are tracking well despite not getting the win we desired in Vancouver," Walsh said.

"We’re continuing to rotate our squad with Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea returning from long-term injuries plus Teagan Levi and Kaitlin Shave re-joining the team to bolster the squad.

"We are looking to finish the regular series off with the paradox of detail providing consistency whilst challenging athletes to explore their skillsets and strategies."

Meanwhile, the Men will go into New York with a rare unchanged 13 that finished fourth in Canada.

Liam Barry’s side took down France and Argentina to qualify for the semi-finals, only to suffer defeats to eventual champions South Africa and Fiji, who both sit tied on top of the overall ladder with one round to go.

"The team were pleased with their overall Day 1 performance but then bitterly disappointed with their Day 2 results," Barry believes.

"We thought we had enough chances in our semi-final to win the game but our execution and added to a couple of critical decisions that went against us.

"Unfortunately we took this frustration into the third-place playoff and lacked discipline which is not how we play.

"We are all very excited that we are heading to New York for the first time and will look to improve in this weekend’s performances."

Australia’s Men will meet France, New Zealand and South Africa in the pool stages while the Aussie Women clash with Japan, Canada and USA.

New York marks the end of the regular season, with the new-look three-leg Championship set to commence in Hong Kong next month, finishing in Spain and France in May.
