Australian trio Ella Goldsmith, Jess Ling and Dr Rachel Horton have been selected as part of World Rugby's Refereeing panel for the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 in England.

Goldsmith was one of ten referees selected for the tournament, whilst Ling and Horton will serve as assistant referee and television match official respectively.

It continues Goldsmith's sharp rise up the ranks, officiating her first Test match in 2023.

"It was amazing to get the call I'd been selected and there were definitely a couple of tears shed in that moment," she said in a statement.

"I'm really proud of how far I've come as a referee and grateful for everyone around me who has helped me get to this point in my career."

22-year-old Ling is the youngest of the 22 match officials selected for the World Cup from around the world.

Ling had made her name on the Sevens World Series alongside Goldsmith, recently completing her second season.

Horton rounds out the nominees, another honour for the TMO with a myriad of talents and expertise.

Born and raised in England, Dr Horton holds a PhD in Immunology and completed a tour of duty in Iraq as a Captain in the British Army. She is taking time away from teaching, where she taught chemistry and physics at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane, before serving as deputy headmaster at Brighton Grammar School in Victoria and principal at The Armidale School (TAS).

"On behalf of everyone at Rugby Australia, I want to extend my sincere congratulations to Ella, Jess and Rachel on their selection," RA CEO Phil Waugh said.

"This is an outstanding achievement for each of them and a testament to the skill, dedication and professionalism they have exhibited while officiating on the international stage. "Their appointments highlight the growing strength of Australia's match official development pathway and in particular the excellence of our female match officials."
