“We took a lot of learning out of our recent games against New Zealand, and we have been working on improve on these issues to play our brand of Rugby.

“This tournament allows us to test some final combinations ahead of confirming our Olympic squad, while also giving other players to make their claim for a spot on the plane to Tokyo.

Australia will open the tournament against Fiji on Friday afternoon before facing an Oceania Barbarians Sevens side in the evening, which is set to be made up of contracted players and standouts from the AON Uni Sevens competition.

They will have the wait until Saturday to reignite the rivalry against New Zealand, with all matches played at Townsville's Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
