The Australian Schoolboys have secured the Pacific Cup with a 35-10 win over the Fijian Schoolboys at Viking Park.

The second match of the series was more of a defensive struggle as both teams came up with massive goal-line stands.

But it was the injection of centre Glassie Glassie that made the difference, with the new face scoring a classy hat-trick to secure the victory.

He was supported in kind by backrowers Noah Rylands and captain Thomas Haslam, with replacement scrumhalf Jeremy Rath also strong.

The Fijians found themselves down to 13 after back-to-back yellow cards for cynical fouls, first for pulling down a maul illegally, followed by a deliberate knockdown.

It presented the perfect chance for Adrian DeKlerk to continue his try-scoring run, crossing comfortably via the rolling maul.

Even with the numbers disadvantage, the visitors were unfazed as their relentless pressure delivered their opening try through prop Esira Livicala.

New addition Glassie was quick to respond for the Australians with a stunning solo run from a scrum just inside Fiji’s half.

The centre, who was originally with the Australia U18s program but brought into the Schools team due to an injury to Denzel Veikune, stepped off his right and raced away before beating the fullback to score under the posts.

The Australians found themselves down to 14 right before the break as Oscar Cleary paid the price for a plethora of penalties on their line, although they managed to hold their line for a 14-5 lead at half-time.

Fiji nearly crossed through their own rolling maul, but a bold move from the Aussies not to engage paid off with the try denied for accidental offside.

Scrum half Carter Mucunabitu couldn’t be denied as he snuck down the blindside to dart over.

However as in the first half, the Aussies had answers for the Fijians as scrum half Jeremy Rath flicked it back inside for James Finegan to dive over.

A monster run from captain Haslam had the hosts back on the attack, with Glassie there to straighten the defence and step past his defender for his second try.

Fiji tried to mount a comeback as Ratu Vonolagi was denied a try after a knock-on from his wing partner Josefata Tuinavitilevu.

In the end, the Australians and Glassie were clinical as the centre celebrated his breakout game with his third on the siren.

Australia Schoolboys 35 (Tries: Glassie 3, Finegan, DeKlerk; Cons: Breen 3, Kirsten 2) def Fijian Schoolboys 10 (Tries: Livicala, Mucunabitu)
