Top 14

Former Wallabies back-rower Rob Leota has opened his account for Bayonne in defeat to Racing 92.

Leota crossed for the opener in the sixth minute, but the ex-Waratah and Rebel was unable to help them to victory, going down 47-27.

It was a similar fate for scrum-half Joe Powell, called into the action in the 52nd minute with the game out of reach against Toulouse.

However, Powell made an impact, setting up their lone try in the 49-7 loss.

It was better news for Pau duo Reece Hewat and Jack Maddocks, coming off the bench in a 34-33 win over Bordeaux-Begles.

The win cements their spot in the top two, sitting two points behind Toulouse.

In further results, Tom Staniforth won the battle of the locks, helping Castres upset Kane Douglas’ La Rochelle 19-17.

Tolu Latu also started in the loss, while Will Skelton watched on from the sidelines, still sidelined by injury.

Alex Newsome also started for Clermont, shifted to outside centre in a 43-24 defeat to Lyon.
