A few changes to Super Rugby AU laws

The NSW Waratahs are currently undergoing one of their greatest transformations since their 2014 title win.

With an exodus of both coaching staff and senior players, a new generation of Waratahs are climbing the ranks and will gain valuable game time in 2021.

Pre-register for Stan Sport now to watch every minute of Super Rugby AU. The new add-on Sport package is available for just $10 a month with customers able to get a 30-day free trial for a limited time only.

While it may not be their year, 2021 will be incredibly formative for the NSW side and will be the true test of their gen blue and pathways programs.

WHO’S IN: Alefosio Tatola, Dave Porecki, Sam Caird, Jack Whetton, Sam Wykes, Jack Grant, Tane Edmed and Izaia Perese

WHO’S OUT:  Charlie Abel, Darcy Breen. Rory O’Connor, Tom Robertson, Damien Fitzpatrick, Andrew Tuala, Ned Hanigan, Jed Holloway, Ryan McCauley, Rob Simmons, Tom Staniforth, Michael Hooper, Patrick Tafa, Michae McDonald, Mitch Shor, Mack Mason, Jack Walsh, Kurtley Beale, Cam Clarke, Siosifa Lisala and Karmichael Hunt

ONE TO WATCH: Will Harrison

A talent flyhalf who commanded the backline during his debut season of Super Rugby, Will Harrison will be the Waratahs go-to in 2021.

With a season of professional Rugby under his belt, the nerves will be calmed allowing Harrison to read and play the game with more maturity.

While he was unfortunate not to get a start in the Wallabies jersey last year, he would have taken a lot of learnings out of the national camp and will be looking to force his way into the squad again in 2021.

PREDICTION: 5th

2021 will be a year of growth for the Waratahs.

They’ve lost a large body of their senior playing group, including their captain and while they’re a talented group of players they are in need of on-field guidance.

While 2021 won’t be their year, it will be very important they continue to chip away at the basics. Plus, with a few wins along the way they might hit their stride come finals.
