The Brumbies will welcome fans into their Super Ruby AU opener on July 4 after receiving government clearance on Friday.
Between 1000 and 1500 fans will be admitted to the Brumbies-Rebels opener at GIO Stadium, the team announced on Friday afternoon.
Brumbies members will be entered into a ballot for tickets and selected at random, while a limited number of corporate hospitality tickets will also be sold.
CEO Phil Thomson said he was pleased to have the green light to bring fans back.
“We’re really happy that we will be able to have some of our members at our first game of the Vodafone Super Rugby AU competition," he said.
“We’d like to thank the ACT Chief Health Officer and the ACT Government for their support in allowing this to happen.
“We’re hopeful we will be able to have more of our members and supporters at games throughout the season.”
The Brumbies are hoping that the current number will increase by their second home game, on August 1, against the Reds.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced last Friday that stadiums of up to 40,000 would be able to admit up to 10,000 people from July 1, pending state government restrictions.
Queensland has cleared the NRL and AFL to admit 2000 fans to games this weekend while NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian gave the green light for 10,000 in stadiums from next month.
The Northern Territory opened all of their sports up for spectators earlier this month, moving well ahead of the national road map.
Community rugby fans had extra good news with confirmation that the John I Dent Cup and the rest of ACT's community rugby will return on July 18.
